if you had a professional scan tool and you were looking at the Transmission data stream.. you would want to see where the CVI numbers are..

CVI Clutch Volume Index..  the clicking noise may be a missing cover over the valve body that is bolted to the front ledge of the transmission.

that cover is a sound damping cover to reduced the clicking noise the valve body makes when dispensing fluid to the Clutch drums

the CVI lets the transmission controller know how much each shift takes so it can dispense the right amount without slamming the speed of the shift.

if the CVI gets too high.. the techs looking at the numbers will realize that the clutch linings may be worn thin..

you could have a worn valve body and the constant pulsing of the valve body could have worn the ball cavities..
