which transmission..

most of the time you really want to put a fresh torque converter to prevent any contamination from being flushed from the torque converter into the transmission and valve body..

torque converters do fail internally..

most made since 1980 have torque converter clutches inside them. that do wear out and fail..

there are fins that can come loose and destroy the inside of the converter.

warning. there are hundreds of torque converters.

you must carefully match  what came out to what gets put back in..

there are ID tags glued to the torque converters to identify them.
