My 07 Hyundai Sonata threw a rod and now I need a new engine. I'm wondering if I can put an engine from a different make and model in my car, as long as all the specs match up.
For example, I found an engine from an 05 Mitsubishi Lancer that seems to fit the bill.
Both the Lancer and my Sonata have a 2.4 liter 4 cyl with 162 hp at 5800 rpms. Do you thing that would work? Are there any other specs that I need to be checking, like dimensions maybe?
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

mitsubishi and Hyundai use very much the same motors but there may be a tone ring for the crank and cam sensor difference.. there may also be fastener size or position differences.

in one application guide.. i only see 2006 to 2008 sonata, Kia optima 2006 to 2008, kia rondo 2007, 2008.

the 2005 lancer 2.4 seems to be different..
