IMRC Problem and Check Engine Light

I've got a Ford Focus, 2005. The check engine light went on today. Brought it to an AutoZone and they asked me to plug in a PCM. The results:

"The bank 1 manifold flow valve position sensor signal indicated the intake manifold runner control remained in the ?open? position."

Can someone explain what this means and how I can fix it. Is this a critical problem or an easy fix that I can do? Can I still drive my car to work? Thanks.

you did not mention a complete code...P0000 thru P2999   that makes it slightly easier..

and which motor do you have 2.0 or 2.3. i ask because i can't see thru the computer..

the manifold valve position sensor is on a trap door that opens when you ask for full power or highway speeed. it monitors the control flaps that open the second set of runners to allow more air in and make more power at higher speeds..
