I have a '93 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 6cyl, manual. Yesterday afternoon (and ever since), when I try and turn the car OFF, the engine still runs. The radio and gauges shut down like normal, but the car is still running. I've had to stall it out in 5th gear just to stop the engine.
I've been a Jeep owner for a long time (all different kinds) but have not run into this before.
Any thoughts/suggestions out there?

Is it your entire engine won't stop??? i had a problem that i didnt realize one day till i came out of the casino here in vegas, i guess when i shut off my jeep, the radiator fan kept running and killed the battery, it turned out from what i found, that the radiator fans in jeeps are pretty much crap, and it caused my radiator fan relay to crap out as well, we took it into the shop today and they are replacing the radiator fan for free because there was a recall on it, but the relay is costing us 300.00 so just something else you might want to check out

Try looking in the fuse/ relay center on the left front under the hood and locate the ASD relay the next time it won't shut off...try tapping on the relay or removing it completely sometime they'll stick and a simple replacement is all thats needed.
Some years the horn relay is the same part number try switching the two relays.
