I'm on the verge of making the biggest purchase in my life -- my first new car. I'm lost because of all the options and I'm hoping someone with more experience could help out.

I'm on a budget and need the car to be between $15,000 to $16,000. Possibly $17,000. I realize that limits me to compact type cars. I am a mom to two children and room is important, so I'm wanting to find the most roomy, safest, reliable car I can within this price range.

There are so many options, and this being my first time I'm really needing some unbiased input. Thanks!

I am suggesting you few cars that will suit your budget.

1: Chevrolet Sonic
2: Ford Focus, Fusion(around 20K)
3: Toyota Yaris

But I would like to advice you something that the kind of budget you have you can buy a good used car probably an SUV. And I think, that will be more comfortable for you as you have a family. Anyways good luck for your first car...

Good morning mbflorida,

It's very exciting to be looking at your first new car! We hope that the search is going well for you!

In addition to the Chevrolet Sonic as recommended by henry.budd (starts at $13,865 Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price - excludes destination freight charge, tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment), you may want to check out gmcertified.com for Certified Pre-Owned vehicles in your area for more options. These vehicles must be from recent model years and have low mileage to qualify for the program, and will come with an extension of the Bumper to Bumper Limited Warranty.

Good luck finding your new vehicle, and if I can answer any questions about any GM products I'm happy to do so!
