We recently found out that we have kid #3 on the way so I am looking for a way to get a bigger vehicle while trying to save a little money. I have a 2007 Honda Civic LX with 92K on it. A friend of mine has a 2001 Infiniti QX4 with 155K on it. The maintenance has been kept up on both vehicles and his interior is probably in better shape than mine. He needs a car that gets better gas mileage and I need a bigger car. He says that he will trade with me and give me 2K. I have driven the vehicle and everything is in great shape and it drives great. Is this a trade I should consider, or would this be dumb on my part? It would be nice to get a bigger vehicle and get a little cash in my pocket, but I don't want to do anything that is dumb. Does the QX4 likely still have several thousand miles left in it? Any advice/input will be appreciated. Thanks.
I am not sure that is a good deal for you. You need to check the value of the cars. I think you should get $4000 or %3500 from him. Private sale your car is worth $6400 and his car is worth $2400. Go to Edmunds.com and see for yourself.
