I have a 92 Honda Accord that drives really good other than it won't start occasionally and always due to the same reasons. If I drive the car and park for a short time such as running into a store it sometimes won't start. The check engine light comes on and the gear indicator on the dash board starts to flash. The car will not start until that check engine light turns off which sometimes take 30 minutes or more of trying. It also does this if parked directly in the sun on a warm day. It seems to me that it may have something to do with the transmission if the gear indicator lights on the dash board are flashing when then check engine light is on. If anyone has experienced the same or has any ideas what it could be I would be greatly appreciated for any info. The car runs great but am afraid to drive it as I tend to get stuck often.

90s accords.. have a EFI main relay mounted to the inside of the upper dash board...
you will need a 10MM deep socket... a 12 or 15 inch extension and a ratchet... a mirror and a flashlight...
position the mirror on the floor to the left of the brake pedal... so you can see straight up into the under side of the dash board... there is just barely visible a grey or reddish relay with 7 wires.. you have to remove the 10MM headed nut.. then you can reach up in there and pull the relay past the plastic flap that holds it up when the nut is not there..
unplug it.. take it out... use a small screw driver to pry the case ends open as you pull the internal component out.. look at the circuit board solder joints.. if you see any that have circular cracks .. those need to be resoldered..
you cannot see the relay contacts in these.. without unsoldering the circuit board completely.. i normally clean them with some brake cleaner sprayed through..
this may return them to service.. they are 40 to 80 bucks depending on where you buy them...
this may or may not be your issue.. but it is a place to start as it is a KNOWN failure..
what goes on in the main relay..
when you turn the key on... one relay closes.. turns power on to the computer and the fuel injection system... the computer has control of the second relay.. that one controls the fuel pump... that will turn on for 2 seconds as you first turn the key on..
it does not have to be mounted to be returned to service.. but it is a good idea to stop the wires from flexing too much and breaking to mount it when finished...
do you have a wiring diagram for your model????

you probably won't need this diagram right now.. but it will come in handy...

the diagrams above are larger than you can see.. open them in a new window...
or move the slider at the bottom across..

Hi Wayne,
I am quite convinced with your answer but it's very technical with the technical diagram. Well, appreciative.
Thanks!

There is a chance for your power relay failed to provide power to ECU and fuel pump. If so, your fuel pump won't operate. So i suggest you to check it thoroughly.
