Hey, just made an account on here hoping to get a bit of advice.

I have a 2003 subaru baja and the stereo worked fine when i first bought it about 4 years ago.  About two months afterward the speakers started only working sometimes.  Sometimes the front left speaker would go out, sometimes the back left, but now they all pretty much never work.  For some reason it seems to work when I go on trips that are 3 hour +, but that is just by chance of course.

I haven't tried replacing the stereo, but I did take it out once and put it back in to make sure everything was plugged in properly.  I have no problem buying a new stereo, but I feel that it must be something wrong with my wiring and probobly not the stereo.  If anyone has any advice, i could greatly use it.

thanks, Dan

do you have an digital volt meter????

so you can check the continuity through the wiring to the speakers and back to the stereo connector.

i don't have the diagram or wiring colors for the speakers..

you will want to find a wiring diagram for the stereo system first..

you could have a loose connector .. broken wires..   blown out speakers..

i don't know if the speakers are going to be 4 or 8 ohms in that model.  it will usually say on the back of the speakers..

if the individual circuits to the speakers ohm out OK..   this is usually done with an impedance meter..  thats NOT something that everybody has.. i don't have one. but i don't do sound installations ..  i know about them because i know people who do sound installations..  but when you only have single speakers.. you can just use an ohm meter..  set at 200 OHM scale.. with the wiring disconnected from the back of the stereo..
