I have had the car since April. And right now I really need this all to get fixed. I switch over the auto climate control to de-ice or defog and nothing. I do here the compressor turn on. It is loud. I do occasionally here a vac pop under the dash to the left. I do not know if the compressor has anything to do with the heat, if so I do have a person that I can get one from. Right now, the person who I bought the car from has a toggle to the blower but , to me, that is just turning it on and off. I need a resource or someone that can help. I have the original 68 Caddy repair manual, the 67-86 Haynes and a CD from Faxon. The CD is giving me alot of direction. But I really would like to here from someone that has gone through this. Thanks

well... first... if the compressor is NOISY... something might be wrong with it... like lack or proper lube.. or improper lube with the 134A freon thats in there now...
why not until you get the rests of the system working.. unplug the electrical connector from the clutch to prevent damage..
you are going to want to invest 30 bucks in a decent brake bleeder hand pump... i use this model mostly..

please use care to not damage the seal in the lip of the plastic cup.. as some of the parts are stored inside the cup and if the bag gets in the seal.. it will distort it and prevent you from ever being able to use the cup to bleed brakes..
you will need to test each of the actuators... that it holds vacuum .. you are also probably going to run into vacuum leaks in the hoses.. ..
aas for the blower motor switch... there are places that sell caddy parts for older models.. it has been many years since i was under the dash of a 68...
you could have problems under the hood where the vacuum is supplied from the engine.. there is usually a vacuum tank under the hood someplace.. it has check valves.. and i have seen a few that were cracked from metal fatigue.. start under the hood...
i am trying to recall if i have a climate control service manual for the late 60's cars... if i do its probably boxed up and in deep storage where i will not be able to get to it.. i will look around.. but you say you have info...
more to come..
