stay connected
I have a 95 buick lesabre, ever since the tensioner arm shattered into a million peices the heater core hoses where they connect to the engine have been leaking coolant. They seem to pull out of the ports very easily and I'm wondering what is designed to hold them in? Is it jut the loops on the hoses that mount on the tensioner bracket? Does anyone have a drawing I can reference?
a few things...i want to know.. if your motor mounts are broken.. or the engine torque struts are broken ...with the hood open... the car parked in a save location.. so there are NO cars in front of it or behind it...THIS IS A 5 SECOND TEST MAXIMUM..stick it in drive with your left foot on the brake pedal... give it a little throttle. does the engine rock more than an inch.???stick it in reverse with your left foot on the pedal.. again.. a little throttle.. if the engine moves more than an inch.. you really need to check the motor mounts and the torque struts..there are either 3 or 4 motor mounts.. and 1 or 2 torque struts.. depending on the application.. i wonder if the tensioner arm shattered because the engine shifted against the body.. breaking the tensioner arm... the heater core is held in place with just a the plastic case as i recall.. i don't recall any brackets that hold it in place.. if you are yanking the tubes out.. or have broken the core.. or the hoses.. you probably have one or more broken mounts and torque struts..one thing.. if you plan on changing them your self.. its sometimes easier with the engine support bar that holds the engine up when dropping the sub frame for transmission removal..one warning.. i think on your model. it has to fit between the radiator core support.. and the top of the firewall as i think you have plastic inner and outer fenders..
