Rebuilt 604 trans burned reverse clutches on dyno.
From what I understand there was a bind in forward so the trans came back to the bench and rev clutches were burnt.

Found no problem with the valve body and solenoid body was new.

Thanks Bob

My first guess would be some kind of cross feed in the drum.Do you know what was burnt when it was originally torn down? Or maybe the lower snap ring {in the drum} popped out. That happened to me once.

I do know all three clutch packs in the drum air check fine with only one pack
locking at a time.
I don't know what the original problem oas because my job is to assemble the trans
after other people tare it down, evaliate the trans and clean it.

How would you like putting together basket cases everyday.

The key to avoiding headaches is to know what the vehicle was doing when it came in and what was found wrong on the tear down. Without that info it's ten times harder to solve a tough problem.  Thats sounds like a stressful setup. The part that bothers me the most is when you save the day and turn chicken shlt into chicken salad you get a 15 second attaboy and then it's "ok heres the next one".

I don't like it here but there are no jobs around here ixcept for the guy who wants to cheat every job type. and we know how that works out.
So I will put up with the 30 mile drive, the $ 5.00 tole and not complane too much.
We do have a gye here who takes care of all the come backs who is the best I have ever seen.
He hasn't rebuilt a trans for years, just takes care of the problems.
We do have a low rate of come backs probably because they tare down the units more that they have to.
You can't cheat when all the rings and seals are removed before you ght the job.

Could be one too many check balls in vb.  One in the corner has a spot but does not belong.

Could also be something was found like a check ball problem as you said but admit it.

There are about 12 people working here including 4 rebuilders.
All people I like and have few problems with.
What I don't like here ie the we do the things.
I think the rebuilder should do the whole job
