A young girl I know bought a car from a dealership. She paid cash and has receipt. The guy told her he would get title to her in her name. She trusted. Never received title. Dealership closed down and guy is gone. She still has no title and found out that car was never transferred when dealer bought it. What should she do? She is stuck and young. Help!

first thing.... get the Vin number from the car... i hope that her receipt has it written on it also.. match them up...
then get online to this web site..
www.nicb.org find the VIN CHECK page...
NICB's VINCheck is a service provided to the public to assist in determining if a vehicle has been reported as stolen, but not recovered, or has been reported as a salvage vehicle by cooperating NICB members. To perform a search a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is required.
this will let you and her know if the vehicle has been stolen...
scams like that happen every day across the country...
and if you think that is bad... people will sell you houses they don't own also...
will rent you apartments they don't own or manage...
try to find out how she found this car... if she called the guy.. look at her cell phone statement... copy that page and highlight the numbers... fraud investigators will need that info... you or she might be able to look at the wording on the ad.. or the phone number if it was an online ad... or even google the guys phone number and find his current ads.. to track him down..
if the car is stolen.. make sure she cleans all of her personal property from it..
