The rebuilt pump we got had the small boost valve and sleeve in it causing the low line problem.
Have been seeing a lot of bad pr valves in 4L60-E pumps lately. Check them for side to side play.

If that exact same problem happened in a shop where there is no dyno and the trans went into the car each time it would have been one of those "rip your hair out" jobs.

I agree. I should have been more exact. The line pressure was low at max line. From what I gather the pressure was ok at lower pressure commands.
