I drive a 2008 Mazda3. Lately the heater hasn't been working quite right. When I'm stopped at a light or somewhere the heater will start blowing cold air. Once the car gets moving again, the air will heat back up. This happens every time the car stops moving. Also on occassion my temperature guage will creep up. I blast the heater, slow down to pull over, but it always drops back down before I even stop the car. This has happened 4 times in the last month and a half. I'm also nearly due for a radiator flush. Could this be related? What's going on?

you will need to check your engine coolant level.... it might be low... you might also have a leak... as by your description it sounds low.. and this worries me.. as if you are experiencing cold air from your heater.. there is not enough coolant to circulate at low engine speeds and you are leaving the cylinder head without coolant causing it to overheat...
this low coolant level is going to be really hard on your engine... before you drive it again.. check it.. without enough coolant in the system... SEVERE and EXPENSIVE engine damage will happen....

As Wayne says, get this taken care of soon, if you overheat your engine you're risking very expensive engine damage.
I'd suggest you start by flushing the coolant and replacing the thermostat. Both are "maintenance" items and both commonly cause problems. On my site I have videos for both procedures, and links for cheap auto parts too.
From your description of the problem, I believe you either have air in the system, or a faulty thermostat. The last step in flushing the coolant is getting all the air out ("bleeding" the system), so do the flush and thermostat first.
If you still experience the same problem, you may have a weak water pump, or (less likely) a plugged up heater core.
Let us know how it works out
