This is my first post...Hello everybody.

I do not know anything about car repairs and I just don't know who believe anymore when they tell me what is wrong with my car. This seems like the perfect place to ask what might be causing the problem because no one on here has any financial interest in repairing my car.

I am losing coolant.

Before I went to work this morning I added some more coolant to my car. As soon as I added it it leaked right out. I could not tell where the leak was coming from. This happened before I started my car. It leaked out when the car was not running.

( Until now I thought that was impossible )

It seems everyone I asked had a different opinion on what is wrong:

1. A bad hose or leaking hose.

2. Radiator has a whole in it and probably needs replaced.

3. Water pump.

Does anybody have an idea what can be causing the leak. It leaks out before I even turn the car on....so am I right in thinking it can only be the radiator and nothing else?

Thank you all for taking the time to read my post.

Could be a leak:
- At the end of any of the rubber hoses
- In the radiator
- At the seal around the water pump shaft
- At the head gasket, and the engine is pulling water into your exhaust
- At your radiator cap, the spring could be weak
- From the coolant reservoir bottle, which could be cracked
- From your heater hoses, or heater core (moisture in the car?)

many parts stores have radiator pressure testers in the loan a tool section behind the parts counter..

if you get one with the proper sized adaptor for which ever car you are working on....

you can pump pressure into the cooling system to check for leaks...

if you cannot find it that way.. you can fill the cooling system and then pump it up with the cooling system pressure tester and observe leaks without the engine running.. makes them much easier to find...
