A500 bench job came back leaking from the front. I'm thinking what could be leaking. I know the pump seal and bushing are new and I know the pump o ring is on. Also a new recon converter.
The leak was installer errer.
One converter bolt was too long and and poked a hole in the converter.
I guess anything is possible.

As i was reading your post the first thing that i thought of ...pressure test the convertor. One time i was doing a 90 Pathfinder and after i finished i started filling it up and fluid came pouring out the front. There was a 1/8 hole drilled through the front side of the convertor. Turns out my convertor guy had a disgruntled employee who went around and drilled holes in dozens of stock convertors right before he quit. I could have killed the guy.You know what a biotch those Pathfinder installations were. And of course it happened at 4:30 on a friday.

that horror story reminds me of one carb builder.. who's disgruntled employees ... dispensed #1 into masses of carbs..
flip it over and air check it..
i wonder if one could use a shipping bracket to hold the converter in.. so it could be ON when air checking ...
might be a new tool easily made on a mill.. sort of like a giant 2 arm steering wheel puller.. but the big bolt in the middle has its head machined into a concave shape.. with a nut on the extended threads. that can be locked in place with a creatively milled spring retracted V device through the side of the nut.. to avoid damaging the threads.. this allows easy to remove without damaging the threads so you can change the big bolts for different machined heads to mate with the converter hubs..
this is just an idea.. and probably NOT needed.. but it would be a great tool ... to have fall off and smash ones toes..
