its an OBD2 car.. check for codes with a scan tool..
you should also carefully count the flashing of the gear shift indicator letters..
P R N OD D L
that can point you toward a problem..
post codes and the flashing letter counts...
i will be around most of the morning..

Your trans filter is clogged. Either the clutches for the gears or the torque convertor clutch is falling apart and clogging the filter. You need a transmission overhaul.

A temp? As in temporary solution? No. The filter is inside the trans between the case halves. The trans has to be removed and disassembled to get to it.

440T4 is a transmission professional...
when the torque converter clutch fails... it shuts off the shifting
there are lots of things to attempt on the transmission.. will any work.. usually NOT.. that model transmission is KNOWN for failure.. where rebuilt you can usually get well over 100K sometimes 250K out of the replacements.. if you just change your transmission oil once a year or so..
the P0108 is a problem with the MAP sensor...
low vacuum ... shown as the signal voltage back to the ECM.. could be a bad vacuum hose.. a clogged vacuum connector.. a bad MAP sensor.. a bad wire...
if you can see the live data on the scan tool.. key on engine off.. you can see if the sensor responds to match the baro reading..
when started.. it should be about half the reading as it had when the engine was off..
depending on the scan tool or the car.. cup half full or cup half empty problem.. engines idle about 15 inches of vacuum... 30 is max.. 0 is zero... some cars display zero.. start the engine and it goes to 15... other cars display 30.. and start the engine and it drops to 15... give or take on the half empty or half full. sorry to confuse you.. my condolences on your transmission.. at 100 K.. you should be able to double that before the engine starts getting tired as long as you don't overheat it...
i did find this info on the P0108
The Bulletin number is V-2-01. Date of Issue Jan. 8/2001. Year/Model 1996 - 2000 Non V-Tec Civic Subject Title: MAP SENSOR FAILURE IN COLD TEMPERATURES
The bulletin lists one part # for the kit. 04161-P2E-305
please... take several feet (3) of 3/8 transmission cooler hose with you to the transmission shop... i know that many will have it.. while they have the transmission out. they should change the transmission oil cooler hose... not all shops do.. put it on the work order... verify before you accept your car back..
the transmission oil cooler hose will have that printed on the side of the hose.. it's NOT fuel hose..
Goodyear/3/8 in. transmission oil cooler hose Part Number: 50280 Alternate Part Number: 65213
it will have a J1532 on the printing also. no matter which brand... .

How many miles on your trans? I wouldn't go with a used trans if you can avoid it. If your in the north east i can save you a $1000 on a rebuild.
