My daughter discovered that her Infiniti is not meant to drive over curbs. She bent the driver side Transverse link (Control arm) and tie rod. If I am reading the book right it looks like it wants me to remove pinion gear to remove the tie rod. Can I remove the tie rod without removing the gear?

Also does anyone know what years and any other Nissan are compatible for these parts?

yes... you will want to use some kind of wrench on it to prevent it from turning or twisting when removing and replacing the inner tie rod end...
let me explain.. use a Wrench on the RACK shaft to prevent it from twisting when you unscrew the inner tie rod end from the end of the rack... or you may damage the rack causing it to leak...
one more thing.. if she hit a curb.. hard enough to bend an inner or outer tie rod end.. it may have damaged the spool valve torsion bar in the rack.. so it may turn easier in one direction than the other when you are done.. i have run across this before on other models.. just swapping in a rebuilt rack.. is sometimes called for..
there are some kind of locks to prevent it from coming loose once installed..

these lower diagrams are for a 94 maxima... i had them handy... your infinity may be slightly different..

hope this helps...

Thanks you were a wealth of info. I should have thought of internal damage to the Rack. My next stop is pull-apart I will see if there is any in decent shape.
