not quite sure... i have rarely work on lexus models.. the SC400 is a car i would love some day..
i have zero info on this in print..
try a one week subscription to alldatadiy.com or eautorepair.net either will have the exact step by step info...
i will look around later on tonight..
when i googled lexus sc400 starter replacement.. i found a few pictures..

you may also find.. and it seems there are differences.. that you have to remove some of the EGR tubing.. and that might need to be done from UNDER the car..
