Hi all...

I posted a couple weeks ago about what seemed to be a stuck pressure regulator valve in a Wrangler 2.5l with a 30RH auto.

http://forums.automotive.com/70/8920112/transmission/diagnosis-help/index.html

Since then I went through a replacement valve body, cleaning and adding a Transgo shift kit. As of this morning I still hadn't put in the new valve body, and while I was running an errand I slowed for a corner and it acted like it had just popped in to neutral or something.  I pulled it into low and it grabbed and then worked fine the rest of the way home.

So, decided I better put in the new valve body and adjust the bands.  After I buttoned it all up and added fluid I ran it through the gears and it engaged nicely.  Shut it off for a few minutes and when I came back out to take her for a test drive, ONCE AGAIN it wouldn't engage.  Gave it a good rev and it dropped into gear.  Exactly as it was doing before.  Backed out into the street and made it about 100 feet before it again acted like it just grabbed neutral and does not want to engage again.

Seems to be pretty much the same behavior as before the valve body swap.  Could this be a torque converter issue?

Again, when it's engaged it generally performs pretty well. No weird noises, shifts pretty clean.  A little stumped here.

The link to the original is below, but you're correct.  No gears at all.  If I rev the hell out of it, it'll kick into gear.  And usually once I've done that, it'll act ok.  And this only happens maybe 1 out of every 20 times I get in it.

After I posted a few minutes ago, I was able to go drive it right back into the garage.  Once there, I shifted between park, drive and reverse a bunch of times and it when in and out of gear just fine.
