looks like it might be a DKW...

http://www.dyna.co.za/cars/history.htm

This DKW 3=6 first used
the 900cc Engine in 1953

While DKW expanded during the early 30's and had already absorbed
Audi, in 1932 they also amalgamated with Horch and Wanderer to
form Auto Union and consolidate production during a difficult
recessionary period. The combined Auto Union then developed a
revolutionary new Grand Prix car, under the direction of Dr.
Ferdinand Porsche, with 12- and 16-cylinder engines installed behind
the driver, with independent suspension and aerodynamic bodies.
These cars dominated car racing and set a host of world records
during the late thirties

Thank you guys, but no, it's definitely not a DKW. It would be too easy)Look carefully at the grille, fenders and windscreen. DKWs and IFAs never had those. It's not a Standard or Steyr either. So again what the hell is this?

I do believe it's a DKW due to the fenders and the headlights..

They look very similar.

wow... thats NOT something you see every day...

i would almost bet, without looking first .. that there might not even be a wiki entry on that one..

edit

The 'Hannoverrische Maschinenbau AG' or Hanomag for short, was founded in 1835 by Georg Egestorff.  The company built engines, steam boilers and locomotives.  In 1925, the company produced its first car.  At that time, Hanomag employed some 5,000 people.  The first cars were small and cheap.  The very first car was called the 2/10 PS.  As the entire car weighed less than 280kg (616 lb), it could reach a top speed of 37 mph (60 kph).

Hanomag has, with great success, always stuck to building small cars.  For example, 19,188 Rekords were sold between 1934 and 1938.

The Sturm, from 1934, was a more luxurious model, but had little success. When production ceased in 1939, only 4,885 had been sold.

Hanomag continued building passenger cars until 1941.  The post-war comeback failed.
