I have a 1995 Blazer with a newly rebuilt 4.3 Vortec, it's had new rings, new spider, new cam bears, crank and rod bearings, new crank etc. a year ago. The motor was in a 1994 Blazer, pulled it out and put it in this 1995. When i got done with it, it ran great, seems a little lower on power then it did when the motor was in the 1994 Blazer. Got it done, ran and drove fine for weeks, it sat for a few days, went and started it up and it smoked unlike anything i've ever seen smoke in my life. I inspected the bottom side, and you can see where there's been a little oil coming from the Exhaust flanges where the exhaust bolts up. I thought maybe the muffler was plugged, changed it, and it still smokes.

But here's the crazy part i can't figure out...it comes and goes, i can drive it about two miles, come up on a stop sign and it starts smoking like crazy, so bad it will cover the street and cover the car in smoke. Take off and it clears up a bit then it will come out of it then boom just starting blowing smoke like no other.

I'm lost here, if someone could give me a tip, or some advice, i would greatly GREATLY apprecaite it!!

preset the engine to TDC #1 so you can remove the distributer and reinstall it properly...

remove the fuel lines at the back of the motor..   pull the distributer..  pull the whole intake off...

its only like 8 screws holding it down as i recall..

carefully examine the intake manifold gaskets...   they can get torn or dislodged when installed .. oil can be pulled up from the lifter valley right into the intake ports causing all kinds of problems..

you might want to completely examine the stuff inside the upper plenum...

there is a chance one of the RING retained valve seals has slipped up off a guide..

since you will have the valve covers off.. to pull the intake..

you might take a good look through the valve spring coils..
