I just bought a Honda passport 1998, 138K miles two days ago.Previous owner just overfilled the engine oil.I drove it for 70 Miles but not continuously, may be 20 miles a day, I just had it for 3 days.Today the car suddenly lost power and came to a standstill. It would not start but would crank normally.I need help, I need to know what might have happened.Could it be overfilling of engine oil.

how full???

back to basic trouble shooting..

codes with a scan tool...

check the live data...   do you see crank sensor signal.. do you see cam sensor signal...

do you hear the fuel pump turn on for 2 seconds when you turn the key on???  this sometimes takes two people..

at 138K miles.. it could be time for a fuel pump..

if you don't hear the fuel pump turn on for the 2 seconds when you turn the key on.. and usually stay on for 2 seconds after stopping cranking..

have somebody crank the engine while you are beating on the bottom of the fuel tank.. with a rubber mallet..

do you have fuel pressure.. this usually takes a fuel pressure gauge..  the fuel filters could be clogged...

checking for spark also is needed..
