I took apart and put back together a 97 Corolla 1.6L 3 speed auto transmission but the damn input shaft won't turn at all. Actually it won't even move, isn't there supposed to be some sort of end clearance movement?

What do you guys think I did wrong? I certainly was very careful putting everything back in.

Is the input shaft supposed to move freely or no?

Yes the input shaft must turn.

You either dropped a washer out of position, broke and jammed sealing rings, jammed clutch plates.
You will have to take it apart and correct what happened.
