2006 Honda Civic (manual trans) skipping first gear

I've noticed lately that my Civic (2006 5spd) skips in first gear. I try and keep it at a steady 2500 RPM and after about 2 seconds, the car shakes briefly. Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem may be? The vehicle is a 2006 and has 100,000 KM (about 62 000 miles)

Have the engine tuned.
