I just bought a 2001 chrysler sebring conv. that had a dead battery. The shop jumped it with a 200 amp booster and since then the speedo is pegged out. It looks like its trying to rise but its on the wrong side of the peg. Can this be reset with a scanner, or is this more serious problem.

i seem to recall there is a speedo test .. by holding the trip odometer reset button in.. then turning the key to the ON position..

it should go through several stops to show its working properly..

there is a small.. not not impossible chance that you might have damaged the programming in the cluster or BCM or ECM  it will take me a while to filter though the various diagnostic section for the cluster..

try the hold in the trip reset and turn on the key.. then release..  see if any thing happens..

you can also check for codes..   as a different test. .by turning the key ON 3 times within 10 seconds without trying to start the motor.. the whole dash board also light up and various codes be displayed on the odometer ..

post any codes you get........

post that you can get through the cluster self test..

Probably speedometer wire is broken or about to break or it may be fuse problem(Speedometer assembly is busted). If you have the mechanical speedometer you need to check it with an expert.
