I have a 2001 maxima took to advance they sad that #4 cylinder was misfiring, i changed sparkplug problem ongoing. I notice that my air flow meter boot had a cut where air was getting out. could this cause a cylinder to misfire?

there are 6 ignition coils....

swap them around..  number them.. keep track of where they went..

clear the codes... see if the misfire follows the coil movement..

there are 3 of these coils and 3 different coils..

you could also have air leaks like you describe.. that will cause a serious misfire..

you might also have a dirty fuel injector ...
