Working on a porche 944 1987 4cylinder 2.5, noise in engine - sounds like a winding/belt noise around the bottom balance shaft. I removed the balance belt and the noise went away. All feels free around the shaft. Does anyone know if they give bother around the shaft or know what this may be??    

timing and balance shafts that are too tight will whirrrrrrrrrrrrr


i am not familiar with the timing belt adjustments on that motor...   i will have a look at come back later tonight..  if there is something special..

i have always double checked the tension by trying to twist the longest span of the timing belt 1/4 turn by HAND..

if i cannot get a quarter turn..  its too tight.. if i get more its too loose...
