Hi all,

What brand of tires do you recommend? I have a Toyota Corolla and my husband has a Rav4.

Thank you!

Ask 10 people and get 10 different opinions.  I have been in the tire business since 1976.  I have worked for major manufacturers as well as various distributors.  I have mounted, sold, unloaded and generally handled 10's of thousands of tires.  I have delt with tires made in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, China, Poland, France, Germany, Japan, India and so on, that list is almost neverending. All that being said I would tell you to visit your local Toyota dealer.  They know your geographic area, they know your vehicle(s)and most of them sell tires made by most all manufacturers with price match guarantee.  Best of all though is that if you are having your car serviced by that dealer already then they also know you! They would have the desire to sell you the most appropriate product to fit you and your vehicles needs.  Just my 2 cents worth though....

Most tire manufacturers produce a wide range of tires.  You need to decide what is most important to you - treadwear, traction, rolling resistance, ride, handling, snow capability, etc - as many of these properties are in opposition to each other.  In other words, you need to know what compromise you can get.

One way to do help sort this out is to work through a retailer who not only knows what's availble, but also is familiar with your locale.

There are tons of different options out there for you.  The best plan of action is to look at what is OE (original equipment) for your vehicle.  Once you figure out that, then you can decide what factors are most important to you.  We have a lot of customers that buy based on price alone, while other buy based on milage warranty and treadlife.  Tires are just one of those things that ppl either take the time to pick out exctaly what they want, or just purchase the first thing they find.  Good luck!
