Used Car or New Car?
Some pros and cons to help decide which is better for you.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the average life cycle of a vehicle is a little over 13 years, with a final mileage of 145,000 miles. Half of all registered vehicles are at least 8 years old, a third of them 10 years old or older. On average the new car buyer trades in the car at 55,000 miles (233,354 Km), approximately every four years. Read more, click here. (squidoo lens)

Given that you lose a couple / few thousand just drviving it off the showroom floor, I don't know who wouldn't consider a used car, unless you just have tons of loot and really want a NEW car.
If you're a smart buyer, and given all the resources out there (inspection services, CarFax, aftermarket warranties / extended service plans), it makes sense that there are great deals to be had.

I agree with you completely. The biggest depreciation happens in the first three years. We just replaced a 1996 Buick Regal because it had 208,000 miles in it, but nothing really wrong with it. We just need ransportation for my wife to go back and forth to work and local shopping. Using the internet, we located a 2006 Ford Taurus with only 32,000 miles on, for only $7,900. My wife wasn't interested in all of the bells and whistles. The car fax showed that it was a lease car, then sold to a person who put less than 1,000 miles a year on. We found exactly what we were looking for, a low mileage used car. The car was also pretty well equipped. We had to travel a few hundred miles to get it, but it was well worth the trip. The internet was a great help.

You may buy both of them. But you should make sure the used car you are purchasing it from technical defect or not because somebody has been used that car.If you buy from authorized used car seller then you can purchase it blindly.Because they have vast experience in used car selling. You need to discuss with experience technician before purchasing.
