I have a 1996 Sebring Convertible that ran perfect one day and the next day wouldn't start. It is getting fuel, the battery turns it over fine and if I shoot Starting Fluid into the air intake, it will start for a few seconds. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pump seems to pump ok and I have replaced all the spark plugs. I also just replaced the MAP sensor. It still wont run. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks James

plug in scan tool...
check for codes..
then check live data stream....
look for crank sensor signal..
look for cam sensor signal..
check fuel pressure with a gauge...
are you getting pulse at the injectors when tested with a NOID light.. if you can reach them without tearing the intake off..
its easier to look at the injector pulse width with a scan tool.. see if its shows cranking..
i had one of these in the shop one day.. it would NOT run with the cam sensor plugged in.. with it up plugged it started and ran.. not well.. but enough to move it around the shop... i tried a new aftermarket cam sensor.. it would not work..
another car came in.. i borrowed the cam sensor from that one.. it worked fine... put the aftermarket version back in.. Nada..
but i could see that there was NO cam sensor data..

oh.. sorry... an OBD2 scan tool is picked up more often the screw driver any more..
its a required tool if you are planning on working on anything newer than 1995...
the least expensive scan tool that does any kind of job is the harbor freight 98614.. yep.. 120 bucks.. but every other one is at least double that price... many professional units are 10 times the price..
