Can I remove my oxygen sensor and get it tested somewhere? How can it be tested? If a computer can randomly recommend it be replaced than a test needs to be performed. I think seriously,I'm getting the runaround from whom ever thinks I need to replace it. The computer codes say that needs to be replaced and there is an evap leak /wherebouts unknown.I find it hard to swallow that an evap leak couldn't make a false reading and randomly add a code to replace the oxygen sensor also.

Oxygen sensors need to be tested on the car.. depending on the year.. since you are mentioning evap leak you have an OBD2 car..
you will need some kind of scan tool... to examine the oxygen sensor wave form... while the engine is running at 2500RPMs in park or neutral..
evap leaks.. might be caused by soft rubber hoses.. where the various lines attach to the motor.. snagged hoses.. leaking evaporative system valves... rotted out filler tubes.. improperly installed fuel pump tank units..
what.. the gas tank has a pressure sensor on it.. the computer monitors the tank pressure.. if it does not hold pressure .. the sensor will show it..
it could also be a bad gas cap...
but you did not mention which model car you have..
