My neighbor just had a 283 completely overhauled. There is a oil leak behind drivers side head and block.
Is it possible that the heads were installed on the incorrect side of vehicle? Putting a mirror behind head on drivers side you can see what appears to be a bolt hole where the oil is coming from.

there is an OIL galley plug that probably was left loose...

if you look carefully.. you will see the silver wire in the oil galley hole.. this is from another forum post..  that opening is for the oil pressure switch...

but if you look really carefully..  under the curl of silver wire that hangs over the side.. you will see a another galley plug ..

those can get left loose after a rebuild..

you can follow along over at CC...

i had a lot more stuff on my photobucket page.. but i had to shut that off for a short while and have NOT gotten it put back together yet..

i would also  really really check the valve cover gaskets..

i have come in and done rear main seal changes on a Lot of small blocks.. only to find even after the mechanic had changed the valve cover gaskets twice.. that they were still leaking.. .

use some cheep brake cleaner spray .. clean the area...   start the engine.. look for fresh oil leak..

the angled oil galley plug is NOT on the top of the block where the tape measure is laying.. its NOT one of the little hole..

it is just barely visible under the left end of the wire sticking in the hole in the middle of the wire.. on the left angled side of the block..

if you follow the left upper engine stand bolt in..  you may be able to see just a tiny portion of it..
