Hi - I am completely burned out on payments and plan to buy a car next week with cash. I've been researching how to do this and get a reliable vehicle for a fair price (My budget is 10000) and have read many tips that are very helpful, but am a little confused on of them. I read a tip written by a retired car salesman that advises not to reveal what your budget is. Is that right? How can they help me if I don't at least give them that? I can see being vague, but wouldn't it just be difficult of the buyer to hold back on that little detail?
What's your advise....up front with the budget or let the salesperson show me a bunch of cars there's no way I will buy?
I've always bought new or near new and financed and have probably paid tons of money I didn't really have to because of my failure to take control (and my love of pretty cars), but this time I want take a more practical approach so I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I stepping onto any lots. Thanks!
