I have had my ECM replaced by Toyota recently persuant to the company's recall. However after replacement and driving the 40 miles to reset the ECM. The same codes as per recall came back. Took it Toyota to check out and $85.00 for diagnostic later they said not their problem. They offered no help at all. Anyone had this or heard of someonehaving this problem.
Any help would be appreciated,

post the codes you got....
P0000 codes... C0000 B0000
there are thousands of codes possible.. for all kinds of different things...
i have a friend who works for toyota.. and is doing the ECM swaps everyday...
when they charge you for diagnosis... they are supposed to write the code numbers down on your estimate, the work order and your receipt.. so you don't end up paying for the same things again and again....
the ECM usually does not cause the codes to be set.. something out of range is what sets the codes in the ecm ..
so if you have an other problem.. you will still have the problem...
please post the codes.. and which motor you have or the 8th digit of the vin...

The engine is 1ZZ-FE eigth character is E and I believe the code was P607 for torque converter and solenoid. Also, pertaining to another matter can your friend say where the serial number is on the motor.

continuing...
P0604, P0606, P0607 or P0657 and other DTCs proceed to chart B
chart B describes diagnosing all the codes one at a time... examine the data stream against toyota data values...
so if you only get a P0607... any or all the codes listed above.. sends you to chart A... replace the ecm again.. or have it reflashed... perhaps it was not properly flash programmed at the dealership...
if you get the codes listed above... and additional codes... diagnose all the codes and fix them first...
you might want to contact toyota zone office or the number shown on the recall notice you received...
