Anybody have thoughts on this? Just saw this on the WSJ: http://blogs.wsj.com/drivers-seat/2011/07/22/toyota%E2%80%99s-new-in-car-technology-a-steering-wheel-heart-monitor/

Seems like Toyota are really trying to regain their safety reputation after the recent trouble they had with the re-calls and braking issues. Do you think this is a gimmick or serious effort on regaining safety reputation?

i wonder..       it would be cool...    knowing your heart rate...

seeing it change as you accelerate at insane rates...

hang corners at high rates of speed...

then there is the passenger assisted heart rate increaser..   one of which is where they scream every time some car cuts in front of you.. even though you dropped back so they could get in..

ya also wonder..  if they are going to come up with multiple air bags in the seat cushion..  that cycle  1 2 3 , 1 2 3... to keep the blood flowing in the seats of drivers and prevent their legs from falling asleep from reduce blood flow.. then clots forming and breaking free and killing the driver behind the wheel...

what.. you have never had a leg fall asleep while driving do to an improper seating arrangement..    people don't know what the real dangers are..    i would imagine that the steering wheel sensor would be great for the massive traffic jams that japan has..
