1999 4L60e problems/questions

1999 Chevy S-10 4.3L 4wd 4L60e auto 150K miles. AT Fluid looks good not burnt, no leaks.

Works fine when cold, after driving for an hour starts to slip a little taking off from a stop. Very hard 1-2 upshift. SES error code P1870. I am looking at buying the Ebay rebuilt valve body, the price is very good. I'm worried about the slip at idle though, that's not usually mentioned when talking about worn out valve bodies. I think if I drop the pan and find metal shavings I will send the valve body back and take it in for complete rebuild or replace, I hate having other people work on it, not that they aren't good at what they do.. I'm wondering if I should even bother with trying the valve body?

With that 1870 code you will probably need a rebuilt valve body and a rebuilt torque convertor.The slip in 1st is a different  issue.You need an overhaul.

Time to bite the bullet and take it in I guess. I'm itching to do it myself but not practical right now.
