Ocassionally my 2003 DHS becomes very hard to steer. Fluid level is ok. Generraally noticed when parking or a low speed turn. Most of the time it is just fine. Any suggestions?

first.. i will be glad to help.. but as of this second.. i don't know what a DHS MODEL is...
second... did you have a cousin or aunt.. lived in glendale california named myrna... she passed about 10 years ago and would have been in her 90s now...
i would start with a power steering fluid flush.. some of the oil change shops have a device with 2 tubes .. one extracts used fluid while the other injects clean fluid while the engine is running and the mechanic is working the steering wheel back and forth as fast as he can..
you can do a similar job with a turkey baster by extracting as much fluid as you can from the power steering.. . refilling the system.. starting the engine and working the wheels. shutting off and using the turkey baster again to extract as much as you can... doing this 3 or 4 times will do the mostly the same job as the expensive exchanger at the oil change shop.. for the 99 cents for the turkey baster... and probably 10 bucks for 2 quarts of proper power steering fluid... warning.. not all cars use the same power steering fluid..
hondas and acuras have a special fluid... as do a few other cars...
check your owners manual.. or check online... post make and model.. i just don't know at this second.. what a DHS is...
