sooo....i completed my swap from the 5.7 to a 7.4, in my 96 yukon. hit the key and no fire through the distributor. i have replaced all of the above:wires, cap, rotor and crank censer. im getting good power and ground to the dist. im baffled and frustrated.....please help...thanx

by the way, engine ran when pulled and everything was plug and play.....

what year were both computers and both engines..
got an OBD2 scan tool..
did you install all the electronics from a 96 454???
this is the 96 454 distributer.. inside is ONLY the cam position sensor... the alignment of this is critical or the engine won't start..

a lot more info is needed... have you had the remote mounted ignition module that lives on the coil bracket tested??? and if you had the module off.. did you apply a thin layer of dielectric tune up grease under it..

both cars were 1996 models...i swapped engine,tranny, harness and ecm. i put my equipment in the other guys truck with no problems, started up and he drove it home. and the 454 ran when pulled, and with out it running there is no chance to get a read from the ecm, with an obd2 tester.

look at the live data stream with the obd2 scan tool...
print this chart....
compare the data stream.. write the values from your scan tool .. on the proper line of the chart.. then you can sit and compare how it all fits... read this one line at a time.. its too much..

do you still have access to the other guys truck.. look at his ignition key. does it have a resistor??? and yours a different resistor???
now all scan tools will show live data streams.. the harbor freight 98614 will.. if you don't have a decent scan tool .. or only a code reader... there are discount coupons in almost any car or truck magazine on the rack..
