hello everyone
i'm about to change my car's tires, Mercury Grand Marquis 04, the ones I have it on now are bridgstone turanza gr-80 which is the worst tires ever, the tires are really harsh, I need something soft yet durable, what do you recommend?
btw the tire size is 225/60R16.

I also agree that Goodyear ComforTred are the best tires. When It comes to the road, your car wouldn't slip even a little even you have twin turbos and other auto parts. My Carrera GT is using that type of tire and I feel cool with it.

I would have to recommend the Nokian WR-G2 tires. Personally, i've had every single "popular" brand tires (eg. Michelin, Bridgestone, BFG) on my car and they are not even close to as good as these Nokians. Not many people know about these tires so here's some info off their website.
Inside – Outside Design Tread Pattern - Tread pattern differs on the inside of the tire and the outside shoulder of the tire for the best handling on wet and dry pavement • Driving Safety Indicator - DSI system uses number blocks displayed in the center of the tread area, indicating the safety level and remaining tread depth in millimeters • 3-D Self-Locking Siping - The self-locking siping located in the central rib supports the tire in the lateral and longitudinal direction, and particularly improves driving stability and wet grip • Water Wipe System - Ensures that the tread is pressed firmly against the pavement to prevent hydroplaning and slushplaning when braking • Canola Oil and Cool Silica Tread Compounds - These compounds combined improve winter wet grip and reduces tire rolling resistance saving fuel without compromising its winter capabilities • Respecting the Environment - Manufacturing Process uses only low aromatic, purified oils • Severe Service Emblem - Only four-season family of tires that carries the Severe Service Emblem exceeding new government snow condition regulations These tires are an ALL SEASON performance tire...yet they perform better in snow than just about ALL dedicated winter tires!
As you can see from the information above, the Nokian WR-G2 is simply the best all-season tire that money can buy.
I got mine from TiresByWeb.com. They have fast, free shipping which is nice.
Happy shopping!

Tyres and wheels are one of the most critical parts of any road vehicle. Their quality will dictate speed, road handling, fuel economy and road safety. Critically, their standard will have a significant effect on stopping distance in an emergency. That’s why it’s recommended to purchase tires of the same size and type as the originals, because the manufacturer have selected then taking into consideration comfort, bearing resistance, speed, grip, although the original tires don’t always adapt to every case, because each driver has its own different needs and requirements that must be known.
Choosing tires include taking into consideration these aspects:
+ Vehicle type
+ Our way of driving
+ Everyday road type
+ State of the road
+ Climatic conditions
Defined these, we must:
+ Chose the right tire size. This and other design information can be find in the user manual. Also you can turn to the tire manufacturers’ technical specifications .
+ Learn to read the tires’ markings. On the external sidewall there are some numbers and letters which inform us about the tire specifications.
+ When buying tires, bear in mind some issues such as price and quality. Sometimes we can find high quality but also very expensive ones. Remember that is better to purchase tires in authorized distributors, although you might have to pay a little bit more for them, they guarantee you the tires.
+ Consider facts such as tire load and traction, estimated km lifetime, operation temperature, guarantee, etc. Don’t forget to check the guarantee policy.

I had Michelin Symmetry tires on the same car, a year older, and I really liked the ride. I am, however, all about a soft, cushy ride, white walls and that's it. All I ask of a tire is to make the bumps go away.
Note: not sure they are available in white wall anymore
Note: I put the same tire on my '93 Town and Country and the ride was so...b a d .....that I begged the Sears guy to change them for something else and he did. They were awful unless I ran them 28 lbs or so and who wants to ruin a tire?

Wow, information overload! You have just about the most popular tire size on the planet so lots to look at. I dont know your budget or the climate where you live but the Michelin Symmetry is a very good product although be it a little older design. Cooper CS4 is also a top rated product and both should be available at your local tire shop. My opinion Nokian not so much there are better choices available at your local dealer. Somtimes these obscure brands offer the selling dealer more profit than they do the consumer value....I'm just sayin!

I suggest you to go with Goodyear Performance Tyre. It gives better driving experience and make ensure that whatever tyre you get with ride quality, noise, speed ratings etc.,
