I have a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. Bought in Canada. I live in Canada too.Less than a year old & 3 broken valve stems. The 1st stem - trip from Canada to USA - broke off while I was putting air in the tire. Had to get a 100 mile tow to get it replaced. The dealer charged for the stem & labor. The 2nd stem - same trip to USA - noticed the tip of the stem was broken. Drove right to the dealer who changed the stem & charged for it.The 3rd stem - low pressure light on. Checked tire pressure - 20 psi. Drove directly to the dealer (in Canada). They confirmed leaking stem & replaced. Covered under warranty.Called up Dodge Customer service & asked for a refund for the 1st & 2nd stem. Sent them my invoices. Got a letter back from them today declining the refund as they explained that not covered under warranty - just a repair & maintenance situation.Obviously I beg to differ with their conclusion. I have never seen this situation in the 35 odd years that I have been driving. Maybe had a flat or two but never (absolutly never) had valve stem issues - and issues on a 6 month NEW car.Any suggestions, advice, comments would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.Gary.
you don't have to buy factory TPMS stems... there are several brands of after market products available...many tire stores will have them and the tools to properly reset the electronics so they alert you when the pressure starts to drop..i posted a phone number of a tire store supply company that has several outlets ... one in gardena ca... another in semi valley ca... they only sell tire shop products. tools.. stems, patches.. jacks, wheel alignment stuff.. it does not sound like you live anywhere close by... you might want to read up on what the industry is talking about on tpms...http://www.tirereview.com/Search/Default.aspx?SearchTerm=tpms
