I am planning to use a japanese 5x114.3 12mm-1.5 rims on a ford 5x114.3 1/2-RH car.

Will this work?

Thank you

5x114.3 this is the bolt pattern on the wheel

12mm-1.5 is the thread size

page 2 of this 6 page pdf file has the various lug nut shapes and thread sizes available...

I understand the pattern. I am just worried about is, as I understand, 1/2-RH of ford is 1/2 inch.

comparing the stud diameter of the ford's 1/2-rh to 12mm, the ford's are .7mm thicker than the japanese 12mm.

I am in no doubt the rim will fit. but the .7mm difference on stud might get the wheel of centered?

bolt circles are measured to the center of the wheel studs...

there is a specification of the distance between 2 studs..  and there is a cheep tool to see what the bolt pattern is..

but...  i would really worry about the pilot size of the wheels...

when you get the wheels...   DO NOT INSTALL them until you compare what the shape of the lug nuts is...

tell you what....   you said.. they are off a japanese car....  exactly what year .. make and model...  if they are original wheels...   and if they are steel or aluminum...   i will try to figure out what the factory lug nuts looked like... and which ones you should get...

there are pictures and application guides in PDF form on the link i posted...   go to the last page.. there is a button in the lower right corner.. to send you back to the table of contents...  look for section 10.. that will take you to the section 10 contents.. there are a LOT of sections.. if you get the first one..      after downloading it . looking at it.. saving a copy..  you can click the next section link.. and grab  the next section..

FAILURE TO PROPERLY ATTACH THE WHEELS WITH PROPER LUG NUTS...    can cost you and your family members or other people their life...      not just from your car crashing when the wheels fall off do to improper lug nuts.. but from the wheels after they come off running people down...   or crashing into their car...

this is a critical thing that has to be done...

you CANNOT put 12MM lug nuts on a 1/2" lug nut..  the threads will just pull... as soon as you put a little weight on the car and go around a corner.. the wheels will fall off...   costing you the wheel.. the damage to your car..  and more...

spend the time... i have given you the proper information to select a proper lug nut.. all you need is the experience in doing it right the first time...  and understanding what you are doing...

if you don't think the local district attorney is going to go after you .. you are probably wrong..

the pilot hole....

this is the big hole in the center of the bolt pattern...

it slides over the shoulder of the hub..

many wheels center on this ... using the lug nuts to only hold the wheel tight against the face of the rotor or drum...

letting the close fit of the pilot to center the wheel...

post more info on your car.. and what the wheels came off...

i think i saw a chart that had the bolt patterns... and pilot sizes also... along with offsets...

yeah, I totally understand the SAE to metric threads. I will definitely use a 1/2 lug nut on a 1/2-RH. My only concern is, will a 1/2 lug nut will seat well on a rim that installs on a 12mm stud with the same 4.5/114.3 PCD.

The rim will be from a 2000 mitsu eclipse. link of the rim below.

http://catalog.thewheelwarehouse.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=41_469&products_id=846&zenid=acsni516h5ji9800ank7bp8ej4\

This rim will be installed on a 5-4.5, 1/2-RH hub.

Thank you for all the replies.....

It will be an aircooled bug, planned to be converted to a disc brake. On-line stores sell a ford 5-4.5,1/2-RH disc rotors, I will be using the eclipse rims.
