I'm going to do the timing belt this weekend on my wife's Honda Accord. Long overdue.  Any advice? I'm looking thru the Hayne's Manual and Autozone site. But anyone who has done it, I would appreciate your advice.
While in there, I'll do the Water Pump too.

you might really really want to find the accord damper holding tool.... and make sure that you have both a 3/4or 19MM 6 point impact deep socket.. and a 17MM impact 6 point deep socket...  i don't remember which size it is... but its IN THERE TIGHT>...

you will also want to make sure that you have a 24" breaker bar.. like the kind they sell at autozone...  where the handle has the ring end and the swivel head covers both sides...  yes.. its a little clunky... but they are really strong...

here is the info on the honda crank damper holder...
this is from autozone.. and may also be in the loan a tool selection of some stores...

The car is a 2002 Honda Accord, 2.2L  4 cylinder engine. Nothing special. I'm finally doing the timing belt and the Harmonic belt. And the water pump. Just getting started. Off to Autozone to rent their Harmonic balancer tool. Then have until tuesday to make sure its done. Do I really have to remove the valve cover? Id so, a new valve cover gasket is in order.

the valve cover usually has to come off at its over the top of the timing belt cover..   it needs to have the gaskets replaced anyway..

you might want to spray wash the motor and the underside of the car first...

i am glad you are renting the accord tool...  i am hoping that you have 17 MM six point  sockets in shallow and deep...

Seems Autozone was thinking harmonic balancing puller. I was clear when I called and asked before going there. Anyway,  they don't have it and it takes a few days to order it to get it in. So I will look to see what else I can do. Suggestions? Being Sunday tomorrow, dealers are closed - though I don't want to pay their charge for it.

last thing that could be done...  since the car still runs... get a shop with a big impact to loosen the crank bolt with their air impact...

then snug it only 125 to 150 foot pounds. instead of what honda torques it to..

i wonder if the local hardware stores keep any nuts big enough to grind down to fit...   then weld a handle to it...

I found a Pep Boys that had it. And Pep Boys lends tools too. Guess Autozone tool lending spread to the other parts stores. Even Napa lends tools. Anyway, this Pep Boys was about 20 miles away but got it. So I will try to finish up tomorrow. I changed timing belts on other cars that weren't this complicated.
Thanks for checking.

Ok. I am getting back to working on this car. Several family interruptions, as it goes. I have a question. I read that to change the Harmonic balance belt, have to remove the Pulley according to Haynes? Really? The Autozone instructions don't say that? I'm going to try without taking off the pulley. AND to replace the water pump, I have to remove the camshaft sprocket ? Do I need a puller for that? Seems like unnecessary work. Anyone know. It's the 4 cylinder.

Update
I rented a puller so if I need to, I can rather than the 2 screwdriver pry. I may need to do the screwdriver pry anyway due to room.
