My 2008 liberty, about every 3 weeks, while driving the transmission seems to downshift and hangs in a lower gear. the only way to clear this problem was to pull over and restart engine. we took the jeep back to the dealer and they said they couldnt find any thing wrong. Please if anyone can help.  brandt2922@hotmail.com

something is causing the transmission controller or PCM to drop the transmission into limp home mode...

i don't have any info on the 2008 models.. yet...

but it could be a power supply problem..

bad connection some place...

bad ground...

corrosion on one of the battery cables..

bad ignition switch...

bad power supply relay... \

that trouble will usually set a code in the transmission section... p0700 to po799... scan it for transmission codes.. scan it for engine codes...

use the live data stream function to watch the data...

or the record function to record the last 30 frames of data... and the 30 after you pushed the button...

the 98614 from harbor freight should do it..
