Bought a new 2010 Kia Forte SX a week ago with all options (leather, sunroof, etc.) for $18,700. Car's feeling OK so far, no problems, though I guess the bluetooth has been a little bit annoying. I had several dealers, when I was price shopping, imply that it was a suspicious price and that they would not go anywhere below 19,000. Possibly a sales tactic, but possibly the truth, as one dealer just outright refused to budge on a 19,500 price and essentially told me to go bleep myself.
My head's spinning from all the sales tactics and the things I've been told by various dealers, so I don't even know if I got a good price. I looked at the truecar price distribution on US news and see that I did pay under what they have listed for dealer cost (yes, I made sure my price was comparable by adding/removing stuff). The thing is, I'm sure that everything presented there (e.g. the average people paid) is based on historical average of 2010 Kia Forte sales, but we're approaching the model year end.
Then there's the lemon dimension. I would tell myself that it's a job well done for so thoroughly shopping, emailing "can you beat this" to dealers, standing my ground, following sound negotiation principles, etc. but maybe what I was actually doing was seeking out the most morally dubious dealer?
Maybe it's just paranoia, but I owned a borderline lemon before (a GM car, last time I'll ever make that mistake) that basically went in the following sequence: "first failure, second failure, warranty expiration, lemon statute time limit, strike three" on faulty ignition and steering.

I think you could push dealer just a little more (couple hundreds), but you did good. the best certified price I could find $18,658 (which is close to what you payed.
I comment on other people posts referring them to TrueCar website. But to me it is an amazing tool. I, myself struggle with making a decision and being able to evaluate correctly if the price is right or not, but with the info that I found on the TrueCar, I really kicked dealer ass. Here is your Kia: http://www.truecar.com/Kia/Forte/2010/best-price-report-3E24BB6D.html?colorInfo=Ebony%20Black,Black,6127_001_EVOX01.jpg&optionInfo=6108337,6108330,6108333,6108331,6108338&incentiveIds=3000265471&trimId=316537&modelId=19140&zipcode=91601&sourceId=xJS_kia&campaignId=xJS_am
I think you might have been able to lower just couple hundreds, but generally you did good.
