Porsche disappoints long standing customer.  I was a very loyal Porsche girl, even dreaming about my next Porsche (#3), but no more. Porsche is no Nordstrom. Original owner, 2003 Porsche Carrera 996, used only Porsche service, always met my service milestones way before mileage due date, babied that car until some mysterious intermix problem cracks my engine head at 58,000 miles 2 weeks ago. I even did my 60k service at 55k and somehow this was not detected.  Go read the forums, apparently this is a common defect for model years 1999-2003 which Porsche somehow forgot to mention. $20k to replace engine (their mandate/no teardown, maybe so we don't find out the common link), guess how much Porsche North American will cover? Does Porsche make their customer whole or even try? No. they will contribute only $2,000. Goodby Porsche, you did not do the right thing. Are you with me on this people??  Now what car should I get?

Well they keep disappointing! My 99' 911 just surfaced this problem, with just 36,000 miles on the car, one would like to think Porsche North America would step forward with some goodwill. In fact, (called the customer commitment department) they refuse to say anything on the subject of intermix other than "you request has been denied" and "the decision is final". Porsche factors for providing goodwill are; mileage, years out of warranty, condition of car, customer loyalty to Porsche and dealer. In my case the car had 36K miles (check - low miles), 12 years old (ok I’ll give them this one), condition (well you can only image a 36K miles car is great condition), loyalty to Porsche and dealer (Elvis has left the building). Bottom line, Porsche knows there's a problem with this engine design and refusing to assist multi owner Porsche customers is ridicules, unethical, boarder line illegal and predatory - essentially they are forcing owners to purchase a so called new engine, which will most likely have the same problem in the future. Personally, I think they are enough of us out there to start a class action suit against this jokers!

what the Heck is an intermix...

is it air fuel ratio???  is it coolant concentration..   or does it mean.. in CODE>..

a cracked cylinder head...   so the intermix problem is the coolant mixing with the engine oil..

how much damage was done to the engine bearings... by the leaking coolant???   perhaps that is the reason that porsche wants TO ONLY install a complete motor without a tear down..

things get torn down with not as much care sometimes..   and the labor they have to pay out for a dozen hours of work to tear it down.. is significant.. they know the problem.. it's got a cracked head..  just replace the whole engine..

this problem effects both heads..  in the same place..
