When I remove the resistor assembly from the dash behind the glove box and ground the aluminum fins to the car body, the fan blows great! Does this mean I have a blown resistor?
you did not say if you have a manual controlled system...or the full digital system....i took a look online at some of the various blower resistors...this looks like the diagram for the conventional resistor..http://repairguide.autozone.com/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images/0996b43f/80/23/a2/43/large/0996b43f8023a243.gifi am almost sure that this might be the diagram for what you have with the aluminum heat sinkhttp://repairguide.autozone.com/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images/0996b43f/80/23/6d/2c/large/0996b43f80236d2c.gifits a blower module... filled with electronics...since most electronics are switched by the ground side... grounding the heat sink might have bypassed the electronics... i have not had one in my hand...there are mounds of wiring diagrams online.. just for the HVAC system.. these newer systems are controlled by the BCM.. via a computer signal.. so it might take a scan tool to fix them... along with proper data... unless you just want high speed...
