Hi, could someone please help me find a fuel filter for a 1984 Dodge 600, 4 cylinder, 2.2 liter, fuel injection, automatic trans. I am not sure where to search online. He went to an auto parts store and they told him they quit making the parts. If there is a substitute that can replace the particular part, please let me know what or where to search. It could be the fuel pump too. But we don't know for sure yet. Just need the filter to check it out. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for my husband. Thank you!! nettreagan

first... there are 4 different motors... 3 of them 2.2...
Select the engine of your 1984 Dodge 600: Available engines 4 Cylinders C 2.2L 2BL (found in 11% of 1984 Dodge 600) 4 Cylinders D 2.2L TBI (found in 45% of 1984 Dodge 600) 4 Cylinders E 2.2L FI Turbo (found in 19% of 1984 Dodge 600) 4 Cylinders G 2.6L 2BL (found in 25% of 1984 Dodge 600)
you probably have the second one... the 2.2 TBI... with a letter D in the 8th position of the 17 digit vin number on the tag in the window or the registration...
i see.. not available...
its been a bunch of years since i worked on one of those...
i did find several listings..
Part Number: GF485 Manufacturer: ACDELCO US Notes: Years:1984-1984; Vehicle: 1984 DODGE 600 L4-135ci 2.2L F/I Vin D
Part Number: G3774 Manufacturer: FRAM Notes: In-line Gasoline Filter ; ES ; 1 Per Veh; Years:1984-1984; Per Car Qty:1; Vehicle: 1984 DODGE 600 L4-135ci 2.2L F/I Vin D
Part Number: GF104 Manufacturer: HASTINGS FILTERS Notes: 1 Per Veh; Years:1984-1984; Vehicle: 1984 DODGE 600 L4-135ci 2.2L F/I Vin D
i would check the local NAPA stores... now that you have multiple part numbers...
i got these from a big independent parts store here in los angeles... autosupplyco, com
were you able to retrieve any codes from the computer????? turning the key on.. OFF.. on.. OFF.. on . OFF on.. within 10 seconds.. the power loss light will start flashing... it may start with a code 12...
flash flash flash................ flash flash flash......... see the spacing between the flashes...
the last code and it will always show the last code.. as 5 flashes and 5 flashes...
i have worked on these before.. a long time ago.. one was acting really strange.. it turned out to be the fuel injector was shorted internally... it has the weirdest intermittent spray pattern..
see if cam is turning when the starter is cranking... look though the oil filler cap... or through the gap where the timing belt cover fits against the valve cover.. sometimes you can see the sprocket turn.. no turn.. stripped timing belt..
see if you have spark from the coil to the center wire on the distributer cap....
see if you have spark from the spark plug wires at the spark plugs...
there is a fuel pump relay.. its called the automatic shut down relay.. those have been known to fail also...
can you hear the fuel pump in the tank when the key is turned on. for 2 seconds...
post what you find...
