I have a 2008 BMW535XI with run flats. I see a lot about the Bridgestone run flats for the 3 series, but nothing about the problem with later models, Dunlop tires or on 5 series, yet everyone i speak with has as much frustration with these tires as i am having. I was told at 14,000 miles i needed new tires, that was 4 tires at $500 each. I already changed one of the tires a few months earlier because there was a bubble in it from what i was told a pot hole i went over. I would not change the tires at only 14,000 miles, i now have 24,000 miles and have been living with a terrible sound from the tires when on the highways. I was told it was due to the tires needing to be replaced, they have plenty of tread on them, i do not understand. I have owned BMW's for 12 years now, went thru 6 cars with them, and never had a tire issue. They now tell me it is because i have run flats, they need to be changed every 10 to 12,000 miles, so in the course of a three year lease (36,000 allowable miles), BMW expects me to change the tires at a minimum 2 times ($4000)? Shouldn't this warrent, at a minimum a disclosure when u buy the car of what i am getting into. I didn't even know i had run flats, didn't even know what they were, till 6 months into my lease and saw a TPM light come on. I lease BMW because i like the car, but also they have no maintence cost program...are they kidding me...this is not only a cost...but a ridiculously expensive one. I have complained to BMW customer service and Wide World of cars and they are just ignoring me..it is obvious they want this to go away, but i have a feeling it won't, well I for one am not happy with the treatment and will not be purchasing another BMW, and will certainly be telling others not to as well. Guess loosing customers is cheaper than changing out tires!
